DEEP LIFE AQUATIC

Challenged to create our own fiction of a territorial takeover of the South China Sea, this landscape urbanism studio in school pushed us to create our own architectural intervention of the "free-waters". From a small intervension that slowly grows to take control of the open sea in progressive phases.

We pegged our intervention on the exploitation of fishermen, where they begin to function autonomously and stealthily for the sake of survival by occupying and operating in territories within their reach and close to the coastlines. They begin to develop and use of Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) soon propel them to greater means and larger output. Aquaculture comes in place as an evolved fishing strategy allowing them to grow further, paired with this our fishermen create habitation nodes and the various node types come together as a total evolving system.
